Malaysia logs 19 new Covid deaths

MALAYSIA yesterday reported 19 Covid-19 deaths, the same number as the day before, the Health Ministry said. 

Six were dead on arrival (DOA). 

This brings the death toll to 31,781, with 6,415 DOA.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

The ministry’s GitHub raw data repository showed Selangor topped the list of fatalities with five deaths; followed by Perak and Sabah (3 each); Penang, Terengganu and Johor (2 each) and one each in Malacca and Kuala Lumpur.

No deaths was reported in Kedah, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perlis, Sarawak, Labuan and Putrajaya.

The active caseload stood at 40,785 including 193 in intensive care, 90 of whom require respiratory assistance.

There were 2,828 recoveries reported. – January 16, 2022.
