MOH reports 3,140 Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Health reports 3,140 new Covid-19 cases today, slightly more than yesterday but still a significant reduction on figures from recent weeks. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, December 21, 2021.

THE number of new Covid-19 infections in the country rose to 3,140 from yesterday’s 2,589, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted today. 

The new cases today bring the total number of Covid-19 infections recorded in the country to 2.72 million.

For three days, there have been fewer than 3,200 daily cases, a significant drop from numbers in recent weeks, typical between 4,000 and 5,000. 

Noor Hisham also said that the infection rate in the country yesterday was 0.91, with Penang and Pahang remaining highest at 1.00. Meanwhile, Sarawak’s infection rate is 0.75., the lowest by state or territory.

The breakdown of cases according to states will be uploaded to the CovidNow website after midnight. – December 21, 2021.
