Agong observes flood situation in Kuala Lumpur

YANG di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah went out to observe the flood situation in the capital last night.

Pictures of Sultan Abdullah wading through floodwaters near the World Trade Centre were shared on Istana Negara’s Facebook page.

“Sultan Abdullah’s gesture is a reflection of warm personality and love for his people, regardless of the place, time and weather,” the post said.

The Klang Valley has been struck by floods, causing thousands of residents to be evacuated as well as leaving a number of road users stranded, while several landslides have also been reported.

Floods have also been reported in Pahang, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perak and Kelantan.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has instructed all relevant ministries to immediately mobilise assets to the flood-affected areas to ensure people are rescued and placed in temporary evacuation centres. – Bernama, December 19, 2021.
