10,458 to cast early votes tomorrow in Sarawak elections


A TOTAL of 10,458 policemen and members of the General Operations Force, as well as their spouses, will cast early votes in 12th Sarawak elections tomorrow, state deputy police commissioner Mancha Ata said.

He said a total of 85 early voting centres with 111 polling streams will be opened from 7.30am to 5pm with 5,522 policemen on duty to control security and ensure a smooth process tomorrow.

“Early polling centres include halls at the contingent police headquarters and district headquarters, resource centres, recreation rooms, meeting rooms and schools,” he said in a statement today.

For postal voters, he said, the total number of applications from the police force was 1,200, with 705 approved by the Election Commission.

Mancha said police had issued a total of six compound notices worth RM31,000, to those violating the standard operating procedure set for the state polls.

He added that police have opened a total of 39 investigation papers from November 30 until yesterday, and approved 1,837 applications for permits by candidates and parties. – Bernama, December 13, 2021.
