1,146 hospitalised with Covid

HOSPITAL admissions for Covid-19 increased slightly yesterday to 1,146 compared to 1,118 the day before, the CovidNow website showed.

Hospital bed usage was at 68.3% of capacity and seven-day average for admissions stood at 1,072 patients. 

The hospital admission rate indicates the virulence of the coronavirus.

Hospital utilisation includes bed usage as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) and on ventilators. 

There were 329 admissions due to the virus in the Klang Valley yesterday, with Selangor reporting 262, Kuala Lumpur 40, and Putrajaya 27. 

Other states and territories that reported new admissions were Johor (201), Kedah (53), Kelantan (115), Malacca (29), Negeri Sembilan (42), Pahang (37), Perak (55), Perlis (8), Penang (16), Sabah (115), Sarawak (75) and Terengganu (71).

Labuan did not report any hospital admissions for Covid-19.

Malacca logged the highest bed take-up rate at 86%, followed by Terengganu at 81.%, and Kelantan at 76%. 

The utilisation rate for ventilators was at 38.1% and ICUs, 63.5%.
