Almost no change in daily Covid-19 hospital admissions, MOH says

THE number of hospital admissions from Covid-19 dipped marginally to 1,118 yesterday from 1,122 a day earlier, according to the CovidNow website.

Overall, hospitals are running at 69.2% capacity, with Covid-19 patients taking up 36.8% of current bed space.

Hospital admission indicates the severity of the virus, while hospital utilisation includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) and on ventilators

There were 312 admissions Klang Valley yesterday, with Selangor reporting 258 new hospitalisations, Kuala Lumpur 39 and Putrajaya logged 15.

Other states and territories that reported new admissions are Johor (207), Kedah (53), Kelantan (109), Malacca (13), Negri Sembilan (45), Pahang (43), Perak (63), Perlis (16), Penang (35), Sabah (112), Sarawak (57) and Terengganu (53).

Labuan did not report any hospital admissions.

In terms of hospital utilisation, Terengganu was the highest with 84% of bed capacity at hospitals taken up.

Meanwhile, the utilisation rate for ventilators was at 38.7% and ICU was 62.7%.

There were 63,740 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night. Of this number, 500 patients were treated in ICUs with 258 of them on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 52,066 patients were in home quarantine, 6,156 were admitted to low-risk quarantine centres and 5,018 were hospitalised.

As of noon yesterday, 5,430 new infections were reported. Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 1,582 cases.

Other states that recorded new cases are Kelantan (639), Sabah (366), Johor (488), Kedah (366), Pahang (326), Penang (292), Sarawak (292), Perak (205), Terengganu (202), Kuala Lumpur (326), Malacca (124), Negri Sembilan (180), Putrajaya (21), Perlis (48) and Labuan (19). – December 2, 2021.
