55 new Covid deaths reported in Malaysia

THE Health Ministry yesterday reported 55 new coronavirus deaths, taking the Covid-19 toll in Malaysia to 30,425.

All 55 deaths were backlog cases, meaning they did not occur on the day they were announced.

The Git.hub raw data repository showed eight of the victims were pronounced dead on arrival.

The daily death figure is the total number of reported deaths from infection on a given day plus cases of deaths only just confirmed to be due to the virus.

Selangor logged the highest number of deaths with 10, followed by Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur with six each.

Other states and federal territories that reported new deaths yesterday were Johor (3), Kelantan (4), Malacca (2), Negri Sembilan (2), Pahang (4), Perak (4), Penang (5), Sabah (5), and Sarawak(4).

Kedah, Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya did not report any deaths.

The CovidNow website showed the national average of Covid-19 deaths stood at 15 per population of one million with Terengganu topping the chart at 50 fatalities per million people. – December 1, 2021.
