1,294 hospitalised with Covid-19 yesterday

A TOTAL of 1,294 Covid-19 patients have been hospitalised yesterday, said the Health Ministry.

The hospital utilisation rate stands at 70.6%, of which only 40.4% are Covid-19 cases.

Hospital utilisation includes bed usage, as well as the number of patients in intensive care units and on ventilators.

The Klang Valley reported 344 admissions – the highest by state, territory or region – with a 63.9% utilisation rate.

Selangor reported 283 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (31) and Putrajaya (30).

On a seven-day average, the region logged a 10% increase in hospitalisation and 64% bed utilisation rate.

Other states that reported new admissions are Johor with 229, Sabah (127), Kelantan (125), Sarawak (112), Terengganu (78), Negri Sembilan (65), Perak (58), Pahang (53), Kedah (43), Malacca (25), Penang (24), Perlis (10) and Labuan (1).

The country registered 6,380 Covid-19 cases yesterday.

The Klang Valley claimed 1,582 infections, a drop from the 2,046 infections on the previous day.

Selangor reported 1,448 cases, Kuala Lumpur (399) and Putrajaya (35).

Other states that recorded infections are Kelantan (733), Johor (566), Sabah (541), Pahang (425), Kedah (409), Penang (327), Sarawak (311), Malacca (307), Perak (304), Negri Sembilan (239), Perlis (21) and Labuan (18).

The number of active cases now stands at 67,358, of which, 52,820 (78.4%) are under home quarantine, 8,181 (12.1%) in quarantine centres and 5,816 (8.6%) hospitalised.

A total of 541 patients are in intensive care units, of which 263 are on ventilators. – November 19, 2021.
