Tanjung Bidara to see three-cornered fight in Malacca polls

THE Tanjung Bidara state seat will see a three-cornered fight in the Malacca state polls, the Election Commission said. 

The three candidates contesting for the seat are Mas Ermieyati from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Ab Rauf Yusoh from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Zainal Hassan from Pakatan Harapan (PH). 

Tanjung Bidara EC returning officer Mohamad Farid Othman said there are no discrepancies in their documents. 

“I’m satisfied with the documents that were submitted by the candidates. No one was rejected,” he said at Dewan Datuk Kapt Hj Ab Karim in Tanjung Bidara.

BN, PN and PH are contesting in all 28 seats, entering into several multi-cornered fights with others.

Polling is on November 20 while early voting is on November 16.

The Malacca state legislative assembly was dissolved on October 4 after four assemblymen – Idris Haron (Sg Udang-BN), Nor Azman Hassan (Pantai Kundor-BN), Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu-Ind) and Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas-Bersatu) – withdrew their support for Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali. – November 8, 2021.
