THREE incumbent PAS vice-presidents successfully held on to their positions following the PAS Central Committee elections today for the 2021-2023 term at the PAS annual muktamar in Kuala Terengganu.
The wins of Religious Minister Idris Ahmad, Kelantan Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Amar Abdullah and Terengganu Chief Minister Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar maintained the status quo in the party hierarchy.
President Abdul Hadi Awang and deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man kept their positions after winning uncontested.
The three incumbent vice-presidents defeated PAS central committee member Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki, who is private secretary to Water and Environment Minister Tuan Ibrahim.
Zuhdi received 623 votes behind Ahmad Samsuri (778) and Mohd Amar (956) while Idris received 1,164.
This year’s election shall also determine 18 incumbent PAS central committee positions, for which 36 candidates are vying.
Yesterday’s election saw 1,299 delegates voting in person in Kuala Terengganu and 1,221 delegates voting virtually. – November 7, 2021.
