THE Pakatan Harapan presidential council has unanimously decided that all parties in the pact will contest the Malacca elections under the coalition logo.
PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim said the decision took into consideration the views of the leaders of PKR, DAP, and Amanah.
“We have unanimously decided that the PH logo will be used by all parties in the Malacca elections.
“We will fight for the state under one logo, one stand and one manifesto,” he said today at PKR headquarters in Selangor.
Anwar said PH would be following the standard operating procedures (SOP).
“We are very disappointed with this ruling (banning gatherings in the election campaign) and instructed all our people to follow the SOPs.
“This, is because of the risk posed to the people and there could be spike in Covid-19 cases.
“We have no choice but to follow the guidelines that are set.”
He said the government must also abide to a letter by the rules that it had set.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the government shouldn’t have drawn up the SOPs without consulting with all the parties.
“But, they (government) had already planned the SOPs. So I agree with Anwar that they must carried out throughly and not done halfway.”
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said the rules remained unclear.
“We still don’t know what happening and are still waiting on the Election Commission for instructions.
“We will follow all instructions but they must first be clear.”
On Sunday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced a ban on all rallies and social gatherings related to the Malacca elections.
Polling day is on November 20 and nominations are on November 8. – October 29, 2021.
