THE Klebang Kechil Umno branch meeting, which was scheduled for today, had to be postponed, according to Tangga Batu Umno division head Mohamad Ali Mohamad.

He said it had to be postponed because of a ruckus that took place before the scheduled meeting at 11am.

Former Sg Udang assemblyman Idris Haron, who was present to make a speech before the meet started, allegedly caused the commotion.

“As the division head, I regret (it) because I feel that he (Idris) does not understand the principles as a person who leads a party,” said Ali.

“Secondly, he has created a situation where (he) has put his self-worth at a low level by interfering in Umno affairs, when he is not an Umno member and has been stripped of his membership.”

Idris and former Pantai Kundur assemblyman Nor Azman Hassan were sacked from the party following their withdrawal of support for the leadership of Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali.

Two other former assemblymen who retracted their support for Sulaiman are Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu-Ind) and Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas-PN).

The Election Commission has set voting in the Malacca polls on November 20, while the nomination of candidates will be on November 8 and early voting on November 16.

The Malacca polls follow the dissolution of the state assembly on October 4. – Bernama, October 24, 2021.
