Covid-19 cases drop below 6,000 for third straight day

Malaysia recorded 5,516 new infections as of noon today, the third straight day that the nation has logged less than 6,000 daily cases. – The Malaysian Insight pic, October 20, 2021.

MALAYSIA’S daily Covid-19 tally stayed below 6,000 for the third day in a row, with 5,516 new infections reported as of noon, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today. 

The Covid-19 caseload stands at 2,407,382 as of 12pm today. 

The breakdown of cases according to states will be updated on the CovidNow website after midnight.

The country has fully vaccinated 70.6% of its population after 134,684 doses were dispensed yesterday. 

According to the special committee for ensuring access to Covid-19 vaccine supply, a total of 25.3 million individuals or 77.3% have now received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Malaysia aims to fully inoculate 80% of the population by December 16. – October 20, 2021.
