Klang Valley accounts for 1,176 of 5,745 new infections

THE Klang Valley – comprising Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya – accounted for 1,176 of the 5,745 Covid-19 cases logged yesterday.

There were 888 cases in Selangor, the second day in a row that the most populous state reported fewer than 1,000 new infections, according to the CovidNow website.

Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur recorded 259 cases, with 29 in Putrajaya.

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases yesterday were Johor (649), Kedah (352), Kelantan (597), Malacca (168), Negri Sembilan (114), Pahang (223), Perak (341), Perlis (5), Penang (393), Sabah (795), Sarawak (749), Terengganu (281) and Labuan (2).

Malaysia’s active caseload continues to drop, with 85,916 people currently seeking treatment.

Of these, 676 patients were treated in intensive care units, 330 of them on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 66,065 patients were in home quarantine; 12,592 in low-risk quarantine centres, and 6,583 were hospitalised.

Total recoveries number 2.28 million, 8,933 of which were reported yesterday. – October 20, 2021.
