MALAYSIA’S daily Covid-19 tally dropped to the 5,000 mark for the first time since June, as health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported 5,434 new cases as of noon today.
This is the lowest figure since June 28, when 5,218 new cases were reported.
The Covid-19 caseload now stands at 2.4 million as of 12pm today.
The breakdown of cases according to states will be updated on the CovidNow website after midnight.
On another note, Malaysia has inched closer to vaccinating 70% of its population, as 22.8 million people have now completed their course.
According to the CovidNow website, 69.7% of the general population in Malaysia have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
About 2.44 million people received one dose, while 7.57 million remain unvaccinated.
Malaysia is aiming to inoculate 80% of the population by December 6. – October 18, 2021.
