Malaysia reports 63 new Covid-19 deaths, all backdated

MALAYSIA reported 63 new Covid-19 deaths as of midnight yesterday, taking the coronavirus death toll to 27,921.

All 63 cases were backdated cases; no deaths had taken place yesterday.

According to data from the ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository, 11 of the 63 cases were pronounced dead on arrival.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the reported deaths on a given day plus backlog cases just confirmed to be due to Covid-19.

Sarawak reported the highest fatalities with 13 followed by Johor with nine.

Other states and federal territories that reported new deaths were Kelantan (2), Pahang (2), Perlis (2), Kelantan (14), Penang (4), Sabah (7), Kedah (4), Malacca (4), Negeri Sembilan (1), Selangor (6), Perak (5), Kuala Lumpur (3) and Terengganu (1).

No virus-linked deaths were reported in Labuan and Putrajaya.

The national average of deaths stood at 26.3 per population of one million with Perlis topping the list at 82.4 deaths per million people. – October 18, 2021.
