9,890 new Covid-19 cases

Malaysia logged 9,890 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. – The Malaysian Insight pic, October 7, 2021.

NEW Covid-19 cases continued to spike with 9,890 infections in the last 24 hours, said director general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 
 
Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 9,380 cases, while cases on Tuesday stood at 8,817 infections. 
 
The latest statistics bring the cumulative number of infections to 2,313,727.

Three states today recorded four-figure new infections, namely Sarawak (1,413 cases), Selangor (1,402) and Kelantan (1,032). 

Other states that reported new Covid-19 cases today are Sabah (820), Johor (993), Kuala Lumpur (250), Kedah (503), Penang (721), Negri Sembilan (180), Perak (794),  Malacca (260), Pahang (564), Terengganu (699), Putrajaya (59) and Perlis (200). 

Labuan recorded no cases today. 

Earlier today, the Health Ministry said that 88.8% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated. 

According to the ministry’s CovidNow website, 113,441 of yesterday’s shots were first doses while 96,466 were second doses.

More than 45 million doses have been administered under the vaccination campaign which was rolled out on February 24. – October 7, 2021.
