Health Ministry reports 105 Covid-19 daily deaths

THE Health Ministry reported 105 Covid-19 deaths as of midnight yesterday, a dip from the 117 the day before.

Only two of the deaths occurred yesterday. The rest were backlog cases that were previously unreported.

According to the GitHub data repository, 26 cases were declared dead on arrival (DOA).

The death toll now stands at 26,981.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the deaths that occur on the day plus backlog reports of deaths, or deaths that have just been confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 upon completion of investigation.

Because of this, daily death numbers could vary from the actual number of deaths that have occurred on the day of the report while the backlog is being cleared.

Sarawak accounted for 27 of the deaths. The rest were in Sabah (14),  Kelantan (12) Selangor (10), Penang (7), Perak (6), Kedah (4), Kuala Lumpur (3), Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perlis and Terengganu (2 each) and Pahang (1).

As of midnight, there were 132,175 active coronavirus cases, including 851 in intensive care, 447 of whom required respiratory assistance.

Yesterday Malaysia logged 9,380 new infections, to make fore than 2.3 million cases since the start of the epidemic. – October 7, 2021.
