Sarawak tops today’s 11,889 new Covid-19 cases

SARAWAK continued to top the daily Covid-19 tally, accounting for 2,413 out of the 11,889 new cases reported today, Health Ministry Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The new cases have taken the country’s overall Covid-19 tally to 2,257,584.

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases today were Selangor (1,568), Sabah (872), Johor (1,217), Kuala Lumpur, (289), Kedah (710), Penang (779), Kelantan (858), Perak (959), Negeri Sembilan (197), Pahang (831), Malacca (378), Terengganu (699), Perlis (81), Putrajaya (36) and Labuan (2).

On vaccinations, about 20.25 million people or 62% of the population in Malaysia have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of yesterday, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

This also means that 86.3% of the adult population have completed their Covid-19 vaccination.

Meanwhile, 23.54 million, or 72.1% of the general population and 94.2% have received at least one of the two dose Covid-19 vaccine.

More than 43.69 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered since the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme began on February 24, with 329,163 doses dispensed yesterday. – October 1, 2021.
