POSITIVE results from RTK-antigen and self test kits are sufficient for a quarantine order to be immediately issued to Covid-19 patients in Sarawak, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.
He said patients do not have to undergo a confirmation test with the polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test kit.
“This is to test and isolate positive cases as fast as possible,” he said in a press conference in Kuching today.
“We will isolate the (patient) and close contacts such as family members will be issued a home surveillance order.”
He said it was important for people to get tested immediately if they experience symptoms of Covid-19.
“If the results are positive, isolate yourself. If you cannot isolate yourself at home, come to the low-risk quarantine centre,” Khairy said, adding this is the best and fastest way to “cut the transmission.”
Khairy said community awareness is important to curb infections while the government takes steps to enable virtual Covid-19 assessments in Sarawak.
He said health authorities will report breaches of the home surveillance order to the police. – September 26, 2021.
