New Covid-19 cases dip to 13,754, lowest since July 22

NEW Covid-19 cases continued on a downtrend for the third day running to 13,754 today, with Perlis seeing a significant jump, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Yesterday’s figure was the lowest reported since July 22, when 13,034 cases were recorded.

The new cases have brought the national caseload to 2,156,678.

Perlis, which reported 97 cases yesterday, reported 113 today.

Only six states reported more than a thousand infections. These were Selangor (1,985), Johor (1,913) Sabah (1,629), Sarawak (1,766), Kelantan (1,264) and Penang (1,052).

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases were Kuala Lumpur (383), Kedah (783), Negri Sembilan (175), Perak (844), Pahang (869), Malacca (292), Terengganu (664), Labuan (8) and Putrajaya (14).

Meanwhile, more than 18.98 million people, or 58.1% of the general population, and 81% of adults have now completed their Covid-19 vaccination.

A total of 22.34 million, or 68.4% of the general population, and 93.3% of the adult population have received at least one dose of the double-dose vaccine. – September 23, 2021.
