MALAYSIA has fully vaccinated 76.2% of its adult population – or 17.8 million people – as part of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme, the Health Ministry said today on the CovidNow website.

It reported that 248,810 people received a shot yesterday, 68,534 of which were first doses and 180,276 the second jab.

Sabah remains the state with the lowest vaccinate rate of 52.5% (1,447,011) of its adult population.

More than 39 million doses have been administered since vaccination programme’s roll-out on February 24.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the government expected 80% of the adult population to be vaccinated by the end of October, by which time Covid-19 would be endemic.

The CovidNow tracker projects that 80% of adults will be vaccinated by September 21, and 80% of the general population by December 3, with 100% vaccination rate for adults achievable by November 2. – September 16, 2021.
