1,272 in ICU, says health DG

MALAYSIA continued to record a high number of Covid-19 cases in the intensive care units (ICU) with 1,272 cases, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said that out of the total, 911 were confirmed Covid-19 cases, while 361 were suspected cases and cases under investigation.

Noor Hisham also said there were 641 patients requiring respiratory assistance.

Similarly, 414 of these patients were confirmed Covid-19 cases, while 227 were believed to have contracted the virus or cases under investigation.

Meanwhile, there were 18,760 recoveries recorded, against the 19,495 new infections today.

The recoveries to date stand at 1,783,339 cases.

Some 19,187 of today’s cases were in category 1 (asymptomatic) or category 2 (mild symptoms).

In the more serious stages of infection, 308 cases were in categories 3, 4, or 5.

There were 25 new clusters reported today, of which 14 were from workplaces, seven from community clusters, two involving high-risk groups and one each from the education and religious sectors. – September 15, 2021.
