323 new Covid-19 deaths

MALAYSIA reported 323 new Covid-19 fatalities in the past 24 hours, taking the overall Covid-19 death toll to 19,486, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

There are also 1,310 cases being treated in intensive care units, the health minister said.

Of these, 967 are confirmed Covid-19 cases, while 343 are suspected cases and cases under investigation, he said in a statement today.

Khairy also said that there are 737 cases that require respiratory assistance. 

Out of these, 464 cases are positive for Covid-19, while 273 are suspected cases and cases under investigation.

Active cases, meanwhile, stand at 242,802 after 24,855 recoveries were recorded against the 19,307 new infections today.

The bulk of new cases today – 19,005 – are in the asymptomatic category 1 and mild symptoms category 2.

In the more serious stages of infection, 302 cases are in categories 3, 4, and 5.

On infection clusters, 27 new ones were reported today, of which 15 are workplaces, 11 are community clusters and one involving an educational institution. – September 9, 2021.
