THE Ministry of Health’s new website for more detailed Covid-19 data will go live at 6pm today, said Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

According to Khairy, this was in line with his promise of more transparency after taking over as health minister. The data can be accessed at: https://covidnow.moh.gov.my/.

Khairy said the ministry has been sharing data on the pandemic but added that some data may have been more suitable for those who are well versed in the subject matter.

“Therefore, from 6pm today, in line with my wish to be more transparent with data sharing and for us to lift the veil of secrecy around data statistics, the ministry will launch a new website Covid-19,” he said during the ministry’s weekly press conference today.

“The daily Covid-19 data will be updated after midnight.”

He added that the ministry will continue with the current style of reporting for another week before transitioning to the midnight update.

“The regular update from director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah will continue for a few more days until we figure out how to transition,” he said.

A breakdown on active cases including people in quarantine at home, at low risk quarantine centres, hospital and intensive care unit admissions, as well as those on respiratory support will be some of the new dataset featured on the website.

The website will also include the time and date of deaths of Covid-19 victims, among others, although their identities will not be revealed.

Khairy reiterated that the daily death toll is not reflective of the actual number of fatalities in the past 24 hours but cumulative over a few days due to backlogs. – September 9, 2021.
