THE Selangor executive council will review the proposal to degazette the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve at a meeting next week, said Pakatan Harapan.

In a statement, the leaders Selangor PH component parties said they had met this morning to discuss the matter.

“All parties have given their respective views and consideration and have agreed for the menteri besar to bring the matter to the state government’s council meeting on Wednesday, September 8, to determine the direction forward and make a decision,” they said.

The statement was signed by Amirudin Shari of PKR, Gobind Singh Deo (DAP) and Izham Hashim (Amanah).

The state government degazetted half the forest reserve in May but only revealed it to the public at the state assembly meeting on August 30.

The news shocked environmental groups and PH state legislators as the Selangor assembly had unanimously voted last November not to degazette the forest reserve.

More than 40,000 public objections have also been filed with the state government to protest the project.

The state has been accused of lacking transparency while red flags have been raised over the developer, Gabungan Indah Sdn Bhd, which was only incorporated in December with a paid-up capital of RM1.

Amirudin has now agreed to postpone the plan to degazette the forest reserve following demands for a full explanation on the matter.

At the same time, Selangor PH also objected to efforts to revive the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project, said the statement today.

The leaders also discussed the objections to the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) project,

“Selangor PH is aware that the PJD Link project has yet to be approved by the state government,” they said. – September 3, 2021.
