THE Special Committee on the Management of the Covid-19 Pandemic will soon include members from the opposition, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

“This approach is a collective effort to include all stakeholders to ensure that the nation’s recovery goes on as planned, in line with the spirit of the Malaysian Family,” he said in a statement after chairing the committee meeting today.

In his inaugural speech as the prime minister on August 22, Ismail sent out a clarion call to lawmakers from both sides of the political divide to work together for the country’s recovery.

“I would like to urge all members of Dewan Rakyat, whether within or outside of the government to work together to help our nation recover.

“Let us open our minds and hearts to forget our differences by working together. We need to find a common ground and move towards building a consensus for the security and safety of our family, Malaysian Family,” Ismail said.

At the same time, he had also extended an invitation to the opposition to be part of the national recovery council and the special committee For Covid-19.

“I understand that the political turmoil that have beseeched the country have distressed the public. Therefore, it is imperative that political stability is swiftly achieved through togetherness, and this includes cross-party cooperation,” he said. – September 2, 2021.
