HALF of the 36 Covid-19 clusters reported by the Health Ministry today were from workplaces, which collectively contributed 759 cases.
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 18 workplace clusters on the list today.
This was followed by 13 community clusters, which contributed 288 cases, two in the high-risk category (30 cases), two education clusters (74 cases) and one linked to a detention centre (45 cases).
The 36 clusters collectively reported 1,196 cases.
Noor Hisham said there are 1,487 active clusters in the country currently.
The biggest among the workplace clusters was the Pinggiran Boh construction site cluster in Kuantan, Pahang, which saw 135 cases.
These workplace clusters were detected at factories, constructions sites and restaurants among others.
All of the community transmission clusters today stemmed from symptomatic index cases, with the largest being Nangka Tetalit in Tatau, Sarawak, which reported 57 cases.
As for the education category, the Dah Gerigis cluster of 62 infections was detected at an education centre in Alor Setar, Kedah, while the Jalan Kempas Desaru cluster of 12 was detected at a higher education facility in Kota Tinggi, Johor.
Meanwhile, Persiaran Titiwangsa Tiga in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur (11 cases) and Jalan Kasawari Larkin (19 cases) in Johor Baru were the two clusters in the high-risk category.
Rounding up the list today is the Tembok Jasin detention cluster in Malacca, which reported 45 cases. – August 30, 2021.
