MALAYSIA reported more Covid-19 fatalities in the past 24 hours compared to yesterday with 295 patients succumbing to the coronavirus, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
This brings the cumulative death toll to 16,382. Yesterday, the country saw 285 fatalities.
Meanwhile, the active caseload fell to 265,713 today as recoveries outnumbered new cases for the second day running.
There were 267,997 active cases in the country yesterday.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were 21,257 recoveries against 19,268 new cases in the past 24 hours.
With this, 1,443,262 people have now recovered from the coronavirus while the caseload to date totalled 1,725,357.
Dr Noor Hisham also said 1,033 patients are currently being treated at intensive care units in hospitals nationwide, with 476 of them intubated.
A total of 53 were dead on arrival cases while 237 victims had pre-existing health issues.
Selangor reported the most number deaths with 81 cases, followed by Johor (47), Sabah (42), Kedah (36), Penang (23), Kuala Lumpur (13), Perak (12) and Terengganu (11).
Pahang and Kelantan reported seven deaths each, while Negri Sembilan, Sarawak and Malacca reported five each. Perlis reported a single death. – August 30, 2021.
