SENDING patients who have recovered from Covid-19 back to their homes from quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) is not the responsibility of the Health Ministry, says Kelantan health department director Dr Zaini Hussin.
However, he said the department would still assist patients who require ambulance services with the cooperation of several other agencies.
The task of sending patients back to their homes is not the responsibility of MOH but “an initiative we provide at the PKRC with the cooperation of agencies such as the district office for ambulance services”, he said.
Zaini was commenting on a viral video on social media in which a woman expressed her anger after being told to go home on her own from a PKRC in Kota Baru.
During her “live” broadcast, the woman claimed that it was the responsibility of MOH to send patients home from the PKRC.
Zaini said they had investigated the video and explained that patients are allowed to return home from the PKRC when they are free from the virus.
“This means they can return to their homes using public transport such taxi and e-hailing rides.
“The public must realise that health workers are dealing with thousands of patients. We are also facing a shortage of health workers,” he said. – Bernama, August 24, 2021.
