Malaysia logs 22,262 new Covid-19 cases today. Selangor, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Penang, and Kelantan has logged more than 1,000 cases in the past 24 hours. – The Malaysian Insight pic, August 21, 2021.

MALAYSIA has logged 22,262 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, which saw more than 1,000 cases recorded in seven states and one federal territory, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The seven states are Selangor, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Penang, and Kelantan. 

On the other hand, federal territory Kuala Lumpur reported 1,220 cases.

This is a slight drop in the overall number of cases from yesterday, when the country recorded 23,564 cases.

Selangor continues to be state with the highest number of cases at 7,011 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 552,131.

Covid-19 infections also remained high in Sabah with 2,651 cases. This is followed by Sarawak with 1,964 cases, Johor (1,558 cases), Kedah (1,880 cases), Penang (1,459 cases) and Kelantan (1,039 cases).

Meanwhile, Negri Sembilan reported 405 cases, Perak reported 946 cases, Pahang reported 495 cases, Labuan reported nine cases, Perlis reported 38 cases, and Putrajaya reported 41 cases.

With the fresh infections, the cumulative number of cases nationwide stands at 1,535,286.

Meanwhile, 483,855 shots of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered yesterday.

The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said 155,030 received their first dose while 328,825 received their second dose.

To date, 53% or 12,408,803 of the adult population have been fully inoculated while 73.7% have received one dose. – August 21, 2021.
