MUHYIDDIN Yassin left Istana Negara about 1pm after an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

He earlier arrived at 12.23pm.

After leaving the palace, Muhyiddin’s vehicle was seen returning to his residence in Bukit Damansara, where he arrived at 1.08pm.

The 74-year-old Bersatu president became the country’s eighth prime minister in March last year after Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as PM following the “Sheraton Move”.

Muhyiddin had led Bersatu MPs out Pakatan Harapan (PH) and with support from Umno, PAS and a breakaway faction from PKR, thus toppling the PH government.

He had been home minister under the PH administration.

Muhyiddin is expected to announce his resignation later this afternoon, following tumultuous events that have lost him majority support in Parliament. – August 16, 2021.
