DAILY Covid-19 cases in Malaysian continue to drop with 17,236 infections reported in the past 24 hours, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
Malaysia recorded the highest number of daily infections on August 6 when 20,889 cases were reported. Since then, numbers have been slowly declining.
The Klang Valley continues to contribute to the bulk of the cases, reporting 7,307 cases.
Selangor logged the highest number of cases nationwide with 5,740, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,567) and Kedah (1,328).
Other states that reported cases are Sabah (1,247), Johor (1,232), Negri Sembilan (1,215), Perak (935), Kelantan (914), Penang (908), Pahang (604), Sarawak (589), Terengganu (510), Malacca (360), Putrajaya (66), Perlis (22) and Labuan (8).
The national Covid-19 caseload now stands at 1,279,776.
Meanwhile, 8.8 million or 37.5% of the adult population have been vaccinated, while 15.8 million or 67.4% have received their first dose.
In the Klang Valley – which includes Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya – 6.2 million people have received the first dose, while 3.2 million people or 51.5% have been inoculated. – August 9, 2021.
