HEALTH authorities administered 389,641 shots of Covid-19 vaccines yesterday, the Covid-19 vaccine supply access guarantee special committee said.
The last time Malaysia’s daily vaccination number was below 400,000 was on July 26, with 399,135 doses given.
The government target is at least 500,000 doses a day to ensure the entire adult population is vaccinated by October.
Of yesterday’s figure, 156,816 were first doses, while 232,825 received their second dose, the committee tweeted.
In total, 8.8 million or 37.5% of the adult population have been vaccinated, while 15.8 million or 67.4% have received their first dose.
The Klang Valley – which includes Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya – 6.2 million people have received the first dose, while 3.2 million people or 51.5% have been inoculated.
The walk-in vaccination programme started in the Klang Valley, only for residents without prior appointments, will continue to run until August 22.
Malaysia reported 18,688 new Covid-19 cases yesterday and a record-breaking 360 Covid-19 deaths.
Selangor contributed to the bulk of the deaths, reporting 221 fatalities. – August 9, 2021.
