MALAYSIA is reaching the 8,000-mark for victims who had succumbed to the virus with the total death toll now at 7,994 cases, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said that over the last 24 hours, 92 people had fallen victim to the deadly coronavirus.
He said there are currently 970 people receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units with 501 cases needing respiratory assistance.
The country recorded 9,683 recoveries, bringing the total cumulative number to 844,541 cases with 160,903 active cases.
Noor Hisham said the 92 death cases today involved 27 cases in Selangor, 23 cases in Johor, 12 cases in Kuala Lumpur, 11 cases in Negeri Sembilan, five cases in Malacca, four cases in Kedah, three cases in Pahang, two cases each in Sabah and Sarawak, and one case each in Perak, Terengganu, and Labuan.
He also said based on the latest data on July 24, the value of infection rate (RT) in Malaysia is 1.11.
“The states that recorded the highest RT value were Terengganu (RT 1.36), followed by Kelantan (RT 1.29), and Kedah (RT 1.23).
“All states recorded RTs above 1.0 except Labuan and Perlis,” he said. – July 25, 2021.
