COVID-19 cases in the country have breached the 900,000 mark with 12,528 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, director general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
This is the fifth day that Malaysia has recorded more than 10,000 new cases a day. With the fresh infections, the national caseload currently stands at 905,851 cases.
The Klang Valley alone accounted for more than 6,000 cases. Selangor continues to top the chart with 4,985 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,740 cases and Negri Sembilan with 1,280 cases.
Other states reporting new cases are Johor with 625 cases, Sabah (647), Sarawak (388), Penang (396), Kelantan (211), Kedah (701), Perak (428), Pahang (317) and Terengganu (177).
Only three states recorded new cases in the two digits or lower; they are Labuan (22), Putrajaya (41) and Perlis (1).
Meanwhile, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) said 406,762 vaccine doses were administered yesterday under the national immunisation programme.
The total number of people who have been vaccinated stands at 13.6 million. Of which, 9.3 million or 28.5% of the population have received their first dose and 4.3 million or 13.2% have received both jabs. β July 17, 2021.
