THE number of new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak dropped again, from 406 yesterday to 352 today, with Sarikei having the most number of new infections, the state disaster management committee reported.

There were 65 new cases in the district, with 63 from the new cluster at a longhouse in Sungai Setajam.

These and 70 more from 14 other clusters make up more than a third of the state’s new cases today, the disaster committee stated.

The new cases also increased the number of infections linked to the longhouse cluster to 75.

Meanwhile, a total of 184 longhouse residents and close contacts have been tested.

The clusters contributing to the infection numbers today are Nyelutong (19 cases), Lunyim (17) and Tembok Sri Aman 2 (14).

For the first time in several weeks, there were no deaths reported today.

However, there are 70 people in the intensive care units of Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri Hospitals, with 21 requiring respiratory assistance. – July 10, 2021.
