MALAYSIA continued to record a high number of Covid-19 cases in the intensive care units (ICU) with 923 patients, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said that there are also 433 cases that require respiratory assistance.
Noor Hisham added that in the past 24 hours there were 77 deaths, taking the nationwide cumulative toll to 5,574.
The total deaths today involved 30 cases in Selangor, 10 cases each in Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan, eight cases in Malacca, seven cases in Johor, four each in Kedah and Pahang, three cases in Kelantan, and one case in Labuan.
Noor Hisham said there were 4,532 recoveries, bringing the total to 710,018 recoveries with 69,447 active cases.
The oldest person to succumb to the virus was an 87-year-old Malaysian male from Selangor who had high blood pressure and was a stroke patient.
The youngest is a 31-year-old Malaysian male from Kuala Lumpur who suffered from obesity. β July 5, 2021.
