BARBERS, book and stationery shops, as well as car wash centres will be allowed to open in states that are in Phase 2 of the national recovery plan (NRP), said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The senior minister said while Phase 2 areas are allowed to enjoy a little more freedom in terms of economic and social activities, they should continue to observe the standard operating procedure (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Interstate and inter-districts travel are still not allowed in these areas, except for teachers and students who are preparing for exams.

“Spouses will also be allowed to travel interstate and inter-district for emergency purposes and with police approval,” he said in a joint press conference with Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz at Putrajaya today.

Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Perlis have met all three indicators required to move to Phase 2 of the national recovery plan and will do so on July 5.

Ismail Sabri said spouses may travel interstate and inter-district  for emergency purposes, such as child birth or to visit a sick child.

Morning markets in Phase 2 areas will also be allowed to open.

“They can only sell vegetables, fruits, groceries, chicken, seafood and beef.”

Non-contact sporting activities such as jogging, tai chi, cycling, skateboarding, fishing, equestrian, hiking and golf among others, will also be allowed subject to strict adherence to physical distancing.

He added that essential services in those areas may operate at 80% capacity with physical distancing measures put in place. – July 3, 2021.
