SARAWAKIANS planning to return to the state are now required to show proof that they are Covid-19-negative before their entry application – via the e-HDF (health declaration form permission form) – is approved.
Further tightening its entry rules amid fears of the Delta variant, Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah said today the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test should be done three days before their departure.
The test result must be negative and attached to their application via the enterSarawak app.
Prior to this, only non-Sarawakians were required to show such proof.
Uggah, who chairs the state disaster management committee, said the tightening was to “protect Sarawakians from the Delta variant”.
“We pray that the Delta variant will not come to the state,” he added.
However, the Delta variant, considered deadly and very contagious, has yet to be detected in the state.
The Ministry of Health today stated that there were one variant of concern and 13 variants of interest detected in the state between June 23 and 30.
Those returning from Labuan are also required to apply for a permission from the disaster committee on top of the various other mandatory requirements.
Currently, there is an entry ban on those who have stayed on the island for more than 21 days. – July 2, 2021.
