A FEDERAL-run drug rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of Kuching is one of four new Covid-19 clusters reported in Sarawak today.
The state disaster management committee, in its daily update, said 28 of the inmates and officers at the centre, 23km from the city at Jalan Kg Mambong, have tested positive so far but the number could rise as the test results for 60 others have yet to be released.
They were among 122 inmates and officers ordered screened after the detection of a case there.
The other three were the Jalan Setia Raja cluster, also in Kuching, the Sg Separai cluster in Tatau near Bintulu and the Jalan Sg Antu cluster in Sibu.
The disaster committee said there were 10 infections among workers at the Jalan Setia Raja market cluster in the Muara Tabuan area of the city, 33 infections in the Sg Separai cluster and 24 infections in the Jalan Sg Antu cluster.
With the four new additions and the ending of five, the number of active clusters in the state remained at 96.
Of the 96 clusters, 16 recorded a total of 151 new cases today.
The disaster committee today also ordered four places in the state – three of them in Bintulu – locked down under the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO).
They are the quarters of the Sri Minah Timber company until July 5, the Beverly Hills rented houses, and the quarters at Union Engineering until July 6.
All are in Bintulu.
A village in Asajaya, Kg Sadong Jaya Laut, has also been ordered locked down from tomorrow until July 8.
At the same time, the EMCO in eight other places have been lifted. – June 24, 2021.
