All-time high of 914 Covid-19 patients in ICU, 76 deaths

THE country once again set a new high with 914 Covid-19 patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) as of noon today, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The latest number of patients under critical care outnumbered yesterday’s figure by two cases.

The number of ICU patients has been increasing steadily since May 5 with 459 cases requiring respiratory assistance in the last 24 hours.

Noor Hisham also said that today’s death toll of 76 brings the cumulative number of deaths to 3,844. 

Noor Hisham said the 76 deaths involved 27 cases in Selangor, nine cases each in Kuala Lumpur and Negri Sembilan, eight cases in Johor, five cases each in Sabah and Malacca, four cases in Sarawak, three cases in Kelantan, two cases in Kedah, and one case each in Penang, Perak, Pahang and Labuan.

The oldest person to succumb to the virus is a 101-year-old woman from Selangor with no symptoms. 

The youngest deaths were a 31-year-old man from Labuan with no symptoms and a 31-year-old woman from Negri Sembilan who had diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and dyslipidemia. – June 12, 2021.
