PARTI Warisan Sabah vice president Peter Anthony was released on bail today after seven days in Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission detention‎.

Magistrate Afiq Agoes ordered Anthony to be released on RM55,000 bail with one surety.

Anthony was remanded for three days from January 6 after a search notice was issued to him along with a lawyer, Michael Ubu, over an alleged failed land deal valued at RM155 million.

His remand was extended on January 8 ‎for another four days.

He was represented by lawyer Martin Tommy, while prosecuting officer Faliq Basiruddin appeared for MACC.

Anthony arrived at the magistrates’ court at 8am, but was only brought into the court room around 9.30am. He came out about half an hour later.

He was seen struggling climbing the court’s staircase.

Anthony told reporters he was not feeling well and claimed he had vomited a number of times while in detention.

“I hope I would be able to see the doctor today. I’ll be checking at the KPJ Hospital today and see how it goes,” he said.

It is learnt that Anthony was admitted to hospital on Tuesday night because of dehydration and head pain.

On January 3, MACC issued a notice ordering Anthony and Ubu to surrender within 48 hours.

Anthony showed up at the state MACC headquarters in Kota Kinabalu on January 5, where he was detained over a RM155 million palm oil land purchase in the Tongod district.

But Ubu has yet to present himself and Tommy denied the two had any connection, although there are claims that Anthony owned the law firm linked to Ubu and implicated in the case.

Questioned on the whereabouts of the missing lawyer, Faliq said the MACC is still searching.

A small crowd of Warisan supporters have turned up at the Kota Kinabalu Court complex here.

This was the second time Anthony was remanded by MACC.

Previously, he was detained by the MACC for a week as part of a probe into the mishandling of funds for federal projects. – January 12, 2018.
