COVID-19 recoveries outnumbered new cases for the third day in a row today, after 7,386 recuperated from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
Director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said with this, the cumulative total number of recoveries now stood at 548,705.
The country saw 6,239 new Covid-19 cases today, which raised the national caseload to 633,891.
The death toll increased to 3,611 after 75 new fatalities were reported.
There were 905 patients under critical care at intensive care units nationwide. A total of 453 of them required respiratory support.
Meanwhile, active cases dipped to 81,575 from yesterday’s 82,797.
There were 11 dead-on-arrival cases today.
The youngest person to succumb to the coronavirus today was a 26 year-old woman who died at the Ampang Hospital. She suffered from lupus and chronic kidney disease.
Meanwhile, the oldest person on the list was a 92-year-old woman who was brought in dead to the University Malaya Medical Centre. She had a history of high blood pressure.
Selangor saw the most number of deaths with 23 cases, followed by Johor with 18.
Kelantan reported seven deaths while Kedah and Kuala Lumpur reported five each.
Sabah, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak reported three cases each while Perak saw two cases.
Penang, Terengganu, and Labuan reported one death each. – June 9, 2021.
