TODAY’S 6,962 recoveries from Covid-19 are higher than the 5,566 new infections reported in the same period.
With this, the cumulative total of recoveries is now 541,319, out of a national caseload of 627,652, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
There were 76 deaths, however, which raised the cumulative toll of fatalities to 3,536.
Admissions to intensive care units (ICU) also remained high, with 903 compared to the 902 yesterday.
Of those in ICU, 458 patients require respiratory support.
With more recoveries today than new infections, active cases also declined to 82,797 cases from yesterday’s 84,269.

Among the fatalities today, five were dead on arrival cases, the youngest being a 25-year-old male who suffered from obesity. He was also the youngest of the 76 deaths, and was brought to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
A 101-year-old woman who died at the Malacca Hospital, was also among the fatalities.
Selangor saw the highest number of deaths with 18 cases, followed by Johor (13), Negri Sembilan (9), Kuala Lumpur (8) and Labuan (7).
Kelantan, Malacca and Kedah reported four cases each while Terengganu saw three cases.
Perak and Pahang reported two cases each while Sabah and Sarawak reported one. – June 8, 2021.
