NEW Covid-19 cases in Malaysia continued to trend in the 5,000 range for the second consecutive day today after 5,566 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours.
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases have taken the national caseload to 627,652 cases.
Selangor continued to lead the daily tally with 1,524 cases, followed by Sarawak with 707 cases.
Other states and federal territories that saw new cases were Sabah (350), Kuala Lumpur (466), Johor (456), Penang (185), Negeri Sembilan (505), Kelantan (204), Perak (225), Kedah (148), Malacca (314), Pahang (157), Terengganu (106), Labuan (191) and Putrajaya (27).
Perlis saw the least number of cases with only one infection.
Malaysia reported 5,271 new cases yesterday, which was the first time in 20 days the daily cases had dropped to the 5,000 mark.
Meanwhile, 3.63 million doses of the vaccine have been dispensed so far under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
A total of 64,436 doses were administered yesterday, which has so far seen 1.13 million people completing their two-dose vaccine schedule while the remaining 2.5 million have received one dose. β June 8, 2021.
