SOME 20% of the police force (PDRM) still have not completed their Covid-19 vaccination, said Bukit Aman’s Management Director Ramli Din.
This includes more than 16,000 within the force who have not received a vaccine, he said in a statement.
Of the 20.24% yet to complete vaccination, Ramli said 859 officers and 6,106 personnel are still waiting for their second dose.
Another 1,566 officers and 14,648 personnel have not been vaccinated at all.
Ramli said PDRM is in the process of completing the vaccination for the remaining 20%, but did not give reasons in his statement for the delay, other than to note that vaccination was controlled by the Health Ministry.
“The government’s distribution of vaccine supply to PDRM is up to the Health Ministry.
“We have given all the names and details of officers and personnel to the Health Ministry. We also understand the constraints faced by the ministry in implementing the vaccination programme nationwide,” he said.
Of those who have been vaccinated, 79.76% or 91,317 officers have received two doses, out of PDRM’s total force of 114,496 people.
“These comprise 10,670 senior officers and 80,647 personnel,” Ramli said.
Ramli reminded personnel that they would be contacted by their respective state health departments for a vaccination appointment.
“PDRM as a frontline organisation is facing challenges placing officers on duty at roadblocks based on their vaccination status.
“Nevertheless, we are taking measures such as using personal protective equipment such as gloves, face masks, sanitiser and other means to reduce the risk of infection by our personnel while on duty,” he said. – June 8, 2021.
