WORKPLACE clusters accounted for more than half of the 24 new Covid-19 clusters reported by the Health Ministry today.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 17 workplace clusters on the list today.
The 17 workplace clusters were:
- Jalan Kampung Yoh in Sebauh and Bintulu, Sarawak – 58 cases
- Industri Jalan Bunga Tanjung Tiga in Seremban, Negri Sembilan – 57 cases
- Lorong Perusahaan Maju Enam in Seberang Perai Tengah and Timur Laut, Penang – 40 cases
- Lubuk Nitik in Seratok and Betong, Sarawak – 38 cases
- Lebuh Raja Lumu in Klang, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor and Petaling – 38 cases
- Jalan Persiaran 67 in Kulai and Johor Bahru, Johor – 33 cases
- Kilometer Dua Belas in Kuala Selangor and Klang, Selangor – 31 cases
- Jalan Molek Satu in Johor Bahru, Johor – 23 cases
- Industri Wakaf Tapai in Marang and Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu – 20 cases
- Ladang Bukit Ibam in Rompin, Pahang – 20 cases
- Jalan Changkat Permata in Gombak, Selangor– 19 cases
- Industri Mentakab in Temerloh, Pahang– 18 cases
- Gambaron in Telupid and Sandakan, Sabah – 12 cases
- Jalan Emas Satu Nilai in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan – 11 cases
- Jalan Johor in Batu Pahat, Johor – 10 cases
- Jalan Perak industry – 10 cases
- Jalan Melaka in Titiwangsa, Cheras and Kepong – 7 cases
These clusters were linked to factories, construction companies, a plantation and service companies.
Apart from the workplace clusters, health authorities also reported five new community clusters.
The community clusters were:
- Jalan Pahang Taiping in Larut,Matang, Selama, Kinta and Hilir Perak – 86 cases
- Banting Sri Aman in Sri Aman, Sarawak – 59 cases
- Ijus Pengelayan in Miri and Marudi, Sarawak – 55 cases
- Kampung Blok 31 in Tawau, Sabah – 33 cases
- Skim B Meradong in Meradong, Sarawak – 28 cases
Ijus Pengelayan was linked to the festival while Kampung Blok 31 stemmed from visiting activities.
Completing the list of clusters today were the Jalan Jaya 2 cluster which involved a high-risk group composed of employees of a medical centre and the Jalan Perkasa education cluster. Both of these clusters were discovered in Kuala Lumpur.
Dr Noor Hisham said there are currently 701 active clusters in the country. – June 5, 2021.
