Covid-19 infectivity rate down to 1.03

MALAYSIA’S Covid-19 infectivity rate – R-naught (R0) – dipped by 0.03 percentage points to 1.03 yesterday, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Labuan, which is among the smallest states in the country, reported the highest R0 of 1.36.

All states in the country reported an R0 of above 1.0. 

R0 indicates the number of new infections estimated to stem from a single case.  

The rate has been on the decline since May 29 when it was at 1.16. It was on a downward trend until Wednesday and Thursday, where it remained stagnant at 1.06 before dipping to 1.03 yesterday. 

Malaysia reported 7,748 new cases yesterday, against 6,624 recoveries and 86 deaths. Active cases, on the other hand, stood at 84,369.
