MALAYSIA saw another increase in the number of Covid-19 cases today with 8,209 cases reported in the past 24 hours.
Yesterday, the country reported 7,703 cases. Infections were on a slight downward trend for the three days before that – but still in the high 6,000s and 7,000s – since the country’s record high of 9,020 on May 29.
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted today that the new number of cases raises the cumulative caseload to 595,374.
Selangor once again topped all states with the greatest number of cases at 3,125.
Kuala Lumpur reported 801 cases, followed by Johor (752), Sarawak (594), Kelantan (414), Perak (384), Kedah (373), Melaka (322), Penang (303), Sabah (203), Pahang (135) and Terengganu (127).
62 cases were reported in Labuan, 33 in Putrajaya and five in Perlis, a rise from yesterday.
Earlier today, Health Minister Adam Baba said 105,655 people received Covid-19 shots, taking the number vaccinated to 3.21 million.
